New World Angels Space & Defense Ventures Group Announces First Flagship Investment in Seagate Space
Boca Raton, FL (January 27, 2026) - NWA’s Space & Defense Ventures Group and NWA’s Innovation Fund-I announce the close of its first flagship investment since the group’s formal launch earlier this year, backing Seagate Space Corporation, a company developing next-generation offshore launch infrastructure for commercial and national security missions.
The investment follows NWA’s August 2025 launch of its Space and Defense-focused investment initiative and represents the group’s first capital deployment into a company operating at the intersection of aerospace, maritime infrastructure, and defense readiness.
Seagate Space is developing Gateway‑S, a class-certified, semi‑submersible offshore launch platform that expands U.S. launch capacity, eases pressure on congested coastal sites, and enables resilient, rapidly deployable access to orbit from international waters.
“When we launched the Space & Defense Ventures Group, our intent was clear: deploy smart capital into companies solving real, strategic problems,” said Richard Greco, Co‑Chairman of NWA’s Space & Defense Ventures Group. “Launch access is now a matter of national resilience, not convenience. Seagate Space is building infrastructure that directly strengthens U.S. and allied space capabilities, and that is exactly where we want to lead.”
The NWA Space & Defense Ventures Group is structured to provide portfolio companies with active support from experienced operator‑investors, deep industry connectivity, and long‑term strategic partnerships, because capital alone is not enough for companies building mission‑critical infrastructure. “Our founders gain access to operators who have built and scaled complex systems, to aerospace and defense networks that matter, and to investors who understand long development cycles and execution risk. This is engaged capital,” Greco added.
The investment comes as Seagate Space secures ABS Approval in Principle for Gateway‑S as the first modular offshore launch platform to meet the new ABS Requirements for Offshore Spaceports, while advancing tank testing with MIT’s Parsons Laboratory for Environmental Science and Engineering and deepening engineering validation, regulatory engagement, and customer integration with both government and commercial launch partners.
Ron Tarro, NWA's President, notes a first for New World Angels: "The Seagate Space team has successfully attracted capital from two groups within the New World Angels syndicate. Rhys Williams and Sam Guren, co-chairs of the NWA Innovation Fund, noticed the team's selection and performance within the Tampa Bay Wave BlueTech Accelerator program. Seagate's mission, product engineering progress, and deepening team and market relationships attracted the NWA's Space & Defense Ventures group."
“We are ecstatic to be selected as a first cornerstone investment within the NWA’s Space & Defense Ventures Group portfolio. Richard and the NWA team are investing boldly in the future of Florida's space and defense industrial base. They are a team with deep and broad experience across this category. In addition to their investment, Seagate Space looks forward to a hands-on partnership as we move from design to development and, ultimately, begin operations."
Seagate Space will use the new capital to accelerate platform certification, hydrodynamic testing, and customer integration milestones ahead of planned demonstration missions.
